Longhouse Gardens Logo

The Sigil
Picture
Two vesica piscis superimposed on each other perpendicularly in a cross formation within a square. On each side of the square, there is a line half the length of each side pointing laterally from the middle of the respective side. An additional slightly shorter line on each side of the origin line points out at a 45-degree angle.

Vesica piscis is a mathematical shape that is formed from the intersection of two circles. It represents commonality between two concepts, implying its use in Venn diagrams. The human eye along with the eyelids form a vesica piscis, implying the representation of awareness. Two vesica piscis superimposed perpendicularly forms a four-pointed star, representing sunlight as being central to agriculture production. Four points represents the four directions, so it implies the awareness of the use of space and the acquisition of territory.

Square is the shape of the faces of a hexahedron, the Platonic Solid representative of the element Earth. Earth represents foundation, stability, and groundedness. Longhouse Gardens provides the basic structures and needs to run Kasadu Enterprise as a whole.

The Square also represents a structure, such as a house. Coupled with the three lines protruding the top, the symbol resembles a potted plant.

The vesica piscis with the lines protruding out resembles a fish inside the container housing a plant, which represents an aquaponics system, one of the flagship systems of Longhouse Gardens.

Two fish superimposed on each other resembles breeding, which represents the endeavor to continue and cross-breed various living species to produce strong and unique variants. The two vesica piscis with all four sides of lines also represents a school of fish, representing our animal systems involving whole family units.

Plants protrude out of the sides and bottom, as well as the top. We endeavor to develop the means to maximize space, such as growing plants on walls and on multiple levels in a vertical grow system. Lines protruding from the bottom side resembles a plant grown upside down or a mushroom cap, representing cultivation of plants and fungi underground.

The symbol as a whole resembles a microbe, implying the goal of working with micro as well as macro-species.

The star on the inside with the snowflake design on the outside represents the endeavor to work with a broad range of temperatures and climates.
